RDS is made up of skilled specialist staff such as statisticians,
researchers, economists, communication professionals and scientists
all working together to inform and advise Parliament and the public
as well as our Home Office colleagues.
These specialists work alongside policy-makers within each Home
Office business area to ensure that the department’s policies
are based on solid evidence. We collect statistics and commission
and run research projects to help the department bring about social
change in some of the most challenging areas such as crime, drugs
misuse, asylum and immigration.
